Welcome to the online documentation for the Path Landscape Model.

The Path Landscape Model (or "Path" for short) is a software framework that allows users to develop and run stochastic state-and-transition simulation models of vegetation change. Path is designed to simulate and compare possible vegetation conditions across a landscape over time by considering the interaction between succession, disturbances and management.

Path has been designed and developed jointly by two firms, ApexRMS and ESSA Technologies, and represents the latest in a lineage of landscape vegetation models that includes both VDDT and TELSA. Its ongoing development has been generously supported by several agencies, including The Nature Conservancy, U.S. Forest Service and the LANDFIRE project; as a result it is available as a free download.
